Vocational Spotlight: Shannon Gordon
Shannon Terrell Gordon, LCSW, is the Chief Executive Officer of River Edge Behavioral Health. Since taking the helm of River Edge in 2008, Shannon has assembled a competent, committed and consistent team that has grown annually recurring revenues from $23M to $40M+ . With corporate offices based in Macon, River Edge had a FY 15 economic development impact exceeding $119M in central Georgia, and River Edge brings recovery and community inclusion to more than 13,000 Georgians annually who experience either mental illness, addiction or developmental disability. The River Edge team has won international and national accolades in the areas of leadership, health information technology and supportive housing during the same period.
Since 1 in 4 Americans will experience a mental health challenge in their lifetimes, and 1 in 7 Americans who drink or use drugs will experience addiction, the access to state-of-the-art and research-based treatment that River Edge provides is a key community asset for Macon.
Shannon is a licensed clinical social worker with a B.S.Ed. in secondary English education. A Foundation Fellow Scholar as well as president of her Master of Social Work class while attending UGA, Shannon is currently completing her doctorate in Leadership and Professional Practice.
Shannon and her husband, Scott, together have six children and have served as foster parents to other children in need. She and her family are active members of Rock Springs Church with campuses in Macon, Milner, Forsyth, and Griffin.
